Howard Choy has been providing executive and strategic leadership for large-scale energy projects and portfolios throughout his 30-year career. He has spent over 30 years in the energy industry which included: development and administration of Los Angeles County’s Office of Sustainability, private sector consulting services for utilities and utility customers, and engineering and management projects for the County’s internal operations. Mr. Choy’s experience includes the incorporation of a wide variety of sustainability initiatives, including energy efficiency, demand response, generation and storage. Mr. Choy is widely known for creating the Office of Sustainability for Los Angeles County and developing the Southern California Regional Energy Network (SoCalREN) which launched a program platform for offering municipal facility clean energy project development on behalf of 150 public agencies in southern California. He has worked with local governments across California in developing and serving as the Board Chair of the Local Government Sustainable Energy Coalition (LGSEC) which centralized energy resources to participate in important regulatory venues impacting local government energy programs; including the CA Public Utilities Commission, the California Energy Commission and CA Air Resources Board.
