“Energy efficiency and renewable energy opportunities abound, but must be done in a manner that encourages private market and sustainable infrastructure development.”

Scott Albert is a Principal at GDS Associates, Inc. and manages the firm’s Northeast region office, located in Manchester, New Hampshire. In this position, he has helped to grow what was started as a single-person Northern outpost of a now 170 person company headquartered in Georgia, to a thriving, twenty-person office of skilled, technically competent and responsive energy engineers and consultants serving clients throughout the region and nationwide.

Scott has lived in New Hampshire since 1981 and has approximately thirty five years of experience in the energy industry. Since joining GDS in 1999, he has worked on electric and thermal-fueled energy efficiency, renewable and distributed generation projects for utilities and residential, municipal, commercial and industrial customers. Previously, Mr. Albert held supply- and demand-side management planning positions with Boston Edison and Public Service Company of New Hampshire. Mr. Albert’s work has included design, delivery and evaluation of innovative new and existing energy efficiency and renewable energy projects such as: Smart Grid program design and implementation; energy code training and compliance roadmap development; utility and non-utility policy/strategy development; technical potential assessments; commercial, industrial and residential energy usage and efficiency audits; program theory and logic modeling; process and impact evaluations; market characterization and baseline studies; cost-effectiveness model design and benefit/cost screening; and regional collaboration. He has also served as an expert witness and testified in numerous regulatory proceedings for clients through the region.

Scott earned his Masters Degree in Business Administration from New Hampshire College (now Southern New Hampshire University) and has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering from Northeastern University. He and his wife Maryanne have two grown children and one beautiful granddaughter.
